Luxor - Karnak - Temple of Amun (King of gods)
The modern city of Luxor grew out of the ruins of the ancient capital of Thebes. We visited the Temple of Amun in the Karnak complex, the largest temple complex in the world and one of the most important ancient sites in all Egypt. The complex was built by various kings and queens over 1300 years.
Above is the entry to the Temple - with ram-headed sphinxes on both sides of the walkway, each holding a statue of King Ramesses II in its paws.
